The complex, yet delicate pattern of this eighteenth century Worcester soft paste plate is known as "Brocade."  A combination of elements from the Japanese (Arita influence) and Chinese (dragon motif and Famille Vert palette) results in a frothy confection unusual for Worcester.  

The design revolves around a central stylized chrysanthemum executed in gold.  Two panels extend  from this central design creating fan shape spaces on either side.  The two panels, decorated in various diaper patterns executed in red or gold are accompanied by red and turquoise chrysanthemums dropped asymmetrically over the panels.  The remaining fan shape spaces each exhibit a heavily enameled green swath decorated with chrysanthemum and foliage executed in puce, pale yellow and gilt with a touch of red.  These panels are accompanied by sprays of prunus and a whimsical Chinese dragon executed in the same enamel hues. 

The plate is finished with a delicate pin stripe emphasizing the molded scalloped edge detail.  Finally, three stylized chrysanthemums executed in scarlet and turquoise decorate the reverse side of the plate.

Simon Spero and John Sandon in Worcester Porcelain, 1751-1790: The Zorensky Collection illustrate an example of this pattern (p. 234, pl. 273) and note that dessert wares in this "unusually splendid and costly design" were honored with a crescent mark in gold, a distinction shared only with the well-known "Bishop Sumner" pattern.
