Two rabbits flee Farmer Brown's vegetable patch in a view reminiscent of the tale of Peter Rabbit. While the fleeing rabbits catch our attention immediately, closer examination reveals an entire landscape including sheaves of corn bound up in the vegetable patch, a distant river and mountain landscape. Pale blue is used very subtly to create a sense of distant perspective in contrast to the soft browns and touches of green of the vegetable patch -- and of course the soft dark brown of the rabbits themselves.
