Ashworth re-visits the classic Masons Ironstone "Double Landscape" pattern, introduced in 1830, in these twelve medium-size plates. The stone china blanks are gently pleated with a soft scalloped edge. The palette is predominantly cobalt with gilt highlights. Secondary peach and deep red tones with touches of green enamel finish the border design.
The center of the charger focuses on two Asian landscape panels, one framed in peach, the other in red, juxtaposed one on top of the other. An elaborate gilt pattern fills the balance of the central cobalt ground. This center design is framed in a leaf pattern band with a peach wash highlighted with red and green blossoms. The outer border is an arrangement floral reserves executed in peach and green which alternate with gilt diaper pattern reserves studded with stylized peach devices derived from Japanese crest designs. Solid red ground panels featuring a single flower finish the border, while a thin band of ochre lustre adds the final touch of sparkle to the edge.
