While not abandoning the influence of the French, here the Flight, Barr, and Barr decorators eschew elaborate ornamentation and build the pattern of this serving plate on a simple Neoclassical format of alternating gilt-edged bands of white and light blue. Fully blown pink roses dominate the floral accents. In the outer ring they alternate with dainty bluebells and forget-me-nots. A larger rose almost crowds out the blue companion blossom in the center nosegay. Unable to resist the pink beauty, a delicate winged insect lights for a momentary sniff.
The overall effect is soft, fresh and feminine.
