Blue banding and white classical sprigging seem to be inspired by earlier jasperware. The mug is finished with bands of ribbing around the bottom, a graceful scroll handle and a simple band of lustre around the top.

We are familiar with these classical sprigs in polychrome enamel and luster on blue ground jugs attributed to Enoch Wood. However we are hesitant to attribute this mug to Wood based on sprigging alone.
