Miniature or toy size examples are unusual in molded stoneware. Decoration of this white stoneware jug consists of a series of upright ferns placed around the body against a dimpled ground. Clusters of grapes hang down from the band of grape vine surrounding the neck and rim. The petite size could have indicated either a toy for the nursery or a bit of parlor bric-a-brac.

Kathyt Hughes (A Collector's Guide to Nineteenth Century Jugs) illustrates related designs by Brownfield (Vol.I, pg.88) and Dudson (Vol.II, pg.104). There is no documented match; either is a plausible candidate .
