Brownhills pictures a young "Rebekah at the Well" in their "Bible Pictures" series. In the scene, Rebekah is shown offering the servant of Abraham a draft of water, an act of kindness that would lead to her marriage to Isaac. The brown transfer print on Brownhills' ivory body is carefully colored with washes of green for the landscape, blue for Rebekah's garb and ochre for the well head and the robes of Abraham's servant. Appropriately, Brownhills "Bible Pictures" format features an unfurling scroll on which the scene is displayed. It is placed over a field laid out with the alphabet and accented with dots and florets.
