One of Wedgwood's most clever forms, the fairly rare beehive-shape honey pots are always charming. This variant is executed in a more formal dark blue jasper dip with crisply detailed sprig groups. Eight of these sprig groups, all different framed in architectural trellis adorn the lid and base. Finally, a sprigwork border of ivy provides the right finishing touch around the flange of the attached underplate.

We love these beehive shape honeypots. We have owned the shape in glazed caneware, drabware and white stoneware. We have owned a couple of examples in enamel decorated Basalt --- an especially rich treatment. That said, the dark blue jasper dip adds that aura of formality one associates with late Victorian life-- week-end house parties, the dining room breakfast buffet, The Times, and such.
