A sprig group decorates each side of this classic miniature baluster shape vase. "The Three Graces," originally modeled by William Hackwood (c. 1773) decorates the dark blue ground of one side. On the reverse, "The Archers," stand at a statue of Diana, their long bows drawn. We also find these female archers depicted on transferware of the very early eighteen hundreds.Wedgwood uses trees and plants at the edge of each tableau to separate the groups.
