The unusual tall tapered form of this ewer, combined with the placement of the main decoration low on the body, leaves an uninterrupted expanse of Wedgwood's grape-y lilac color to be enjoyed. The grace of the classical figures, derived from Lady Templeton's design "Offering to Peace," emphasizes the gracefulness of the overall form. The only other ornament is a floral band featuring passion flowers located near the top rim.
Function is served with the attachment of a sturdy handle with prominent thumb rest and by topping the piece with a hinged Britannia Metal lid (today we would call it pewter).
