This brown floral transfer teapot must have provided a cheery note to some 1830's middle class tea table. 

The pattern is a combination of a botanical study, possibly taken from a published collection of  scientific specimen studies, and a solid ground border edged with elaborate curliques and flowering vines.  Adapting well to the shape, the floral study provides the primary decoration around the body while the border trims the foot and shoulder of the pot. 

The ornamentation, detailed without being excessive, finishes with a few curlique details molded into handle and spout, a spray from the main study at the base of the spout, and a bit of the vine detail from the border down the exterior of the handle.  

Though this charming typical pattern has escape inclusion in the transfer resources available to us, the shape, body weight and whiteness, pearlware glaze, engraving style and similarity to Ridgway's botanical subject patterns all suggest 1830's Staffordshire production.
