A single dragon decorates this small Masons toothbrush(?) vase. The formula of decoration for this pattern is simple enough to be foolproof, but what fun! Masons takes advantage of their clear white ironstone surface adding a minimal decoration of black transfer--here a dragon and traditional Chinese cloud shapes--washed over in green enamel. The effect is ethereal and mysterious. They even finish this small scale piece with an additional green "cloud" just inside the rim of the vase.

Masons produced an entire chamber set in their "Green Dragon" pattern. We have also owned a soup tureen and salad plates; however, we rarely encounter pieces other than jugs.
