This is the first example of Wedgwood's beehive-shape honey pots we have owned in light blue jasper dip. As usual, the piece is decorated with eight different classical sprig groups separated by architectural trellis. The composition is finished with a band of ivy around the flange of the attached underplate.
This piece, however, seems lighter and more delicate than usual -- perhaps due to the uncommon light blue jasper dip or to its slightly smaller dimensions . The smaller scale makes the sprig decoration appear more prominent underscoring Wedgwood's careful attention to fine detail.
