Feldspathic stoneware may have hit a high point in this creamer. The profile of this piece and the fields of decoration are outlined in brilliant navy enamel. The main decorative element (repeated on both sides) is a field of orange peel ground containing elaborate arabesque settings (not unlike the architectural detail employed by the Adam brothers) around light blue ground medallions. One medallion features a John Flaxman putti (from "Four Seasons"); the other is unidentified. A horizontal border of laurel picked out in navy separates this primary decoration from a second orange peel field of floral buds at the base.

We have been told that this piece is by one of the Chetham and Woolley partnerships (1794-1809, Longton, Staffordshire). However Phillip Miller and Michael Berthoud in their An Anthology of British Teapots (Micawber Publications, Great Britain, 1985) illustrate two white stoneware teapots which seem to match this piece (Pl. 1166, 1168, Page 195) but give no attribution.
