Reference sources provide neither the maker nor pattern name of this attractive red transferware jug. However the bulbous shape, slightly scalloped rim, and elaborate handle are typical of 1830's English transfer.
Each side of the jug is almost completely filled with a large tumble of flowers, accented with a few small birds. These floral arrangements sprawl above a scenic reserve beneath the spout--a simple lake view with sailboat, arched bridge, and mountains on the distant horizon. A band of flowers continues the floral theme around the top rim, both inside and out.
