In a relief design that might have been derived from works of the renaissance or baroque era, a crew of putti support swags of laurel garland around the base of this tapering cylinder form vase. Each winged boy is different; each conveys a sense of individual personality. Wedgwood uses a simple delicate band of laurel just below the rim to balance the composition. The especially vivid tone of the dark blue jasper dip provides an effective contrast to the sharply modeled relief figures.
The two vases are an exact pair.
