The Brownhills Crusoe series is printed in brown on an ivory body with ochre and blue enamel enhancements.   Crusoe is depicted in a scene permeated with solitude as he guides a makeshift raft of salvaged supplies and personal belongings to his island. A simple alphabet border decorates the rim.

The image of  "Crusoe On The Raft" was adapted from the work of Victorian artist and illustrator John Gilbert, dating back to at least 1860.  The Browhnills Crusoe series registry number indicates an 1887 introduction while the "England" notation indicates 1890's production. Brownhills production runs 1872 to 1896.

The Robinson Crusoe subject on children's wares was featured in the Seekers Journal in February 2012.
