Wedgwood looks back to eighteenth century Worcester"Damask" patterns or possibly the sources of those patterns in this elegant Imari pattern. A simple oriental chrysanthemum provides the anchor for a series of four floral reserves and four gilt pattern cobalt reserves. The floral patterns executed in icy green with soft melon remind us of the light airiness of Worcester's "Jaberwock" and "Rich Kakiemon Blue Scale" patterns (the reserve with the sheaf of wheat is almost a direct quote).
